Mike opened Bird Watcher's General Store way back in 1983. After a string of failed jobs, Mike realized he could never work for anyone and had to be the boss. He decided to turn his passion for birding into a business. Bird Watcher's General Store was the first shop of its kind to cater to bird enthusiasts.

Bird watching has now become a huge industry. Bird Watcher's General Store remains the largest shop of its kind and true to the theme of birding and bird feeding. No dog beds, wind-up frogs or toilet plungers (unless there's a bird on it or a bird needs one).

Located on Cape Cod in Massachusetts, Mike's shop is a popular tourist destination stop.

Mike has managed to fool a few folks into thinking he's smart. Since beginning "Ask the Bird Folks" he has been asked to write for a British magazine, had his articles appear in "The Best American Science & Nature Writing 2004," and answers bird questions on a radio talk show out of Boston.
